Performances

That's what it's all about right?  Approximately every 18 months we produce a large-scale concert program at the California Theater of Performing Arts.  It's a great learning experience and confidence builder!  There are other performing opportunities available too.

Schedule

Currently our ballet department teachers are Jeanne Williamson and Ron Cocking. We’re planning a Performance Awards Program for spring 2009 in coordination with The American Academy of Ballet. Beginners through advanced will participate. Mignon Furman, director of AAB was at the studio in fall 2008 and awarded over 50 ballet dancers with a total of 13 gold, 37 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
LGSPA’s advanced tap classes are being taught by Los Angeles tap ace Bill Bartlett as well as studio and co-owner/artistic director Ron Cocking. The advanced classes are feeders for Mr. Cocking’s tap ensemble TAPS! Also, the advanced tap dancers are sometimes cast in Mr. Cocking’s tap teacher’s video series available at www.steponit.tv.
Our vocal department is producing lots of successful concerts in our Studio Theatre. Kelly Uminski and Chip Saporiti are working together to encourage students to become as versatile as possible. Their shows include kids age 6 through 19 and feature choreography as well as show songs and pop songs. The studio also has an adult vocal department.
Our Acting department is currently planning the 2009 Acting Festival. The event includes two weekends of one-act plays, scenes and monologues. The students are critiqued by industry professionals. Professional actress Gloria McMillan-Cocking, a member of SAG and Actor’s Equity Association, produces the festival.
LGSPA’s next concert performance in the LOOKING GOOD series is slated for spring 2010. The show features Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Vocal and Kinder-Theatre performances. There is a registration deadline for students that want to be a part of the cast. Don’t wait too long to get into class!
