IT'S TIME TO PREPARE FOR OUR WINTER SHOWCASE,
COMING ON NOVEMBER 22ND!
Our Winter Showcase is an annual, one day performance opportunity for ALL our students to showcase their new skills they are learning in class and try different dance styles. This showcase also incorporates our Actors with their own performance section. It is less formal than our Looking Good show and costumes are not much more than a matching color or holiday festive clothing your student most likely already has. The showcase is such a fun way to kick off the holiday season as a studio! This year for our Juniors and Teens, we are performing to songs from "Elf" the movie and musical. It's going to be a creative and exciting time for students to showcase their talents. It is not a requirement to perform, and for Juniors and Teens practices take place outside of normal class time. Please read carefully below for your students detailed performance information, sign up dates, and cost for performance.
Kinder-Theatre: Sign up with your teacher no later than September 15th. The performance fee for this group is $25 total, NOT per class.
Jrs./Teens: Sign up on the parent portal no later than September 5th. The performance fee for Jrs./Teens is $25 PER dance.
Actors: Sign up with Mrs. Sam no later than September 15th. The performance fee for this group is $25 total.
Kinder-Theatre students (Age 3-6):
Every Kinder-Theatre class will be performing on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:30am. Unlike the rest of the classes, all Kinder-Theatre classes will be learning their choreography IN class the same way they did for the Looking Good show. This showcase is much less formal and we will not be ordering costumes. Students can expect to wear something holiday festive. Teachers will communicate further regarding what each class is to wear.
For the Actors:
We are so excited to have the Actors perform on Saturday, November 22nd at 4:30pm. All Actors will be working on their performance pieces IN class. Mrs. Sam will be working on comedy pieces with our actors in class, but we want to encourage students to also come up with their own comedy ideas and they can discuss them with Mrs. Sam.
Junior/Teens (Age 7+):
Students will be performing Saturday, November 22nd at 6:30pm. In order for us to keep the students progressing in their technique we do not have the students learn routines in their weekly classes. If you want your student to perform in our Winter Showcase you MUST commit to extra rehearsals on the weekends. If you cannot commit to the extra rehearsals, please do not register. Please see the schedule posted at both studio locations.
We have two separate groups for almost every style of dance that we separate the students into. Group 1 is the beginner/intermediate group and Group 2 is the intermediate/advanced group. (See below for more details about which group to sign your student up for). We are asking this year for students to be in the same group for every dance they choose to perform in. They can choose to only do one dance or they can try and do all of them. Please keep in mind that there will be no intermission for this section of the day and if a student is in almost everything, they will most likely have back to back dances. Without costume changes, this usually isn't such a challenge.
Our Winter Showcase is also unique because we allow students to choose any style of dance they want to perform in. If your student is only in a ballet class but they would like to try and learn a jazz routine they can sign up for both routines. If it is a new style of dance for your student then we ask they sign up for the Group 1 dance.
Group Placement: Students who are in Ballet 1 or Ballet 2 and Tap 1 or Tap 2, will be in Group 1. Students in Ballet 3 or Ballet 4/5 and Tap 3 or Tap 4, will be in Group 2. If your student is in Jazz 2 or Lyrical 2, please ask your teacher which group your student should perform with. We will be combining groups for Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, and Acro styles so there will only be one dance for each of these genres.
Again, we will not be purchasing costumes for this performance, but will rather keep it simple and separate the groups with different colors in some fashion. More details about costumes will be available at a later date.
If your student has prior commitments on the weekends and would have to miss more than one rehearsal based off of the schedule, then we recommend they do not perform in that dance.
How to sign up for Jr/Teens: You will sign up through your parent portal as if enrolling them in a new class. If we see that a student has been enrolled in the wrong group, we will be contacting you and discussing the necessary switch.
